Job Summary

Data protection lies at the core of NetApp’s business. The landscape of global data privacy and security regulations is rapidly evolving, alongside the ever-changing cybersecurity threat landscape. To effectively manage the increasing risks associated with data privacy and security, NetApp Legal continues to invest in a comprehensive Data Protection Program. We are currently seeking an exceptional Data Protection Program Manager with a strong technology focus, who possesses a deep passion for data protection and managing the lifecycle of multiple cross-functional projects.


As the Data Protection Program Manager, your primary responsibility will be to oversee and deliver projects related to data privacy and security compliance. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful execution of projects and the achievement of project goals. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, IT, and business stakeholders. Leveraging your expertise in data privacy regulations and project management, you will play a vital role in driving the success of our clients' data privacy initiatives.


This position offers a global perspective, as it addresses privacy and data protection issues across all regions in which we operate, namely the US, Canada, EMEA, APAC, and LATAM. Given that our EMEA main establishment and International Headquarters is located in Cork, Ireland, we strongly prefer candidates who are based in Ireland.

Job Responsibilities

•    Lead and manage data protection projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to project scope and timeline.
•    Collaborate with internal teams to define project objectives, deliverables, and success criteria.
•    Develop and implement project plans, including resource allocation, task scheduling, and risk management.
•    Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and proactively mitigate risks to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
•    Coordinate and facilitate communication among project team members, ensuring effective collaboration and alignment.

•    Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders in implementing data protection best practices and complying with relevant regulations (e.g. GDPR, CCPA).
•    Stay updated on emerging data protection laws and regulations and assess their impact on ongoing and future projects.
•    Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders acting as a trusted advisor and point of contact for data protection project-related inquiries.
•    Engage with relevant Data Protection Authorities, in particular the Data Protection Commission in Ireland.
•    Work collaboratively with key stakeholders across the NetApp organisation to promote best practices and ensure delivery of end-to-end Privacy by Design, including up-to-date internal data mapping.
•    Monitor the international landscape for developments in relevant legislation, assessing the impact of these changes and supporting the implementation of appropriate updates to NetApp’s Data Protection Compliance Program.

Job Requirements

•    Professional experience (+10 years) managing a global data protection compliance projects within the technology industry.
•    CIPP, CIPM or similar privacy qualification preferred.
•    Knowledge of GDPR, and familiarity and experience with other relevant privacy and data protection regulatory requirements globally, particularly US requirements.
•    Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
•    Proven experience with tools and software that support core elements of an effective Data Protection Programs.
•    Excellent written, presentation and inter-personal communication skills.
•    Ability to influence and drive change in a multi-stakeholder environment across multiple locations in a constructive and product manner, whilst maintaining independence.
•    Desire and ability to quickly learn about the activities and specificities of our business model, advanced technology capabilities, and evolving regulatory environment.
•    Experience and willingness to collaborate with other teams to achieve mutual goals.
•    Ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment and be adaptable to change.
•    Fluency in English.
