Supporting your work-life balance

We know that Relaunchers take breaks for a variety of reasons, including caring for a family member, serving in the military, continuing education, or managing mental or physical health. We also know that your situation may continue to have an impact as you transition back to work.

At NetApp, we care about you as a whole person and recognize that life outside of work doesn’t stop when the workday starts. We value work-life balance and prioritize the well-being of our employees through flexible work, dedicated company-wide wellness days, volunteer time off, and other benefits.

Prioritizing your success

As a Relauncher, you'll have access to benefits starting on day one. We prioritize your success by providing comprehensive onboarding and training, ensuring you have the necessary tools and knowledge to excel in your role. You’ll be able to build confidence by partnering with an on-demand coach who will guide and support you along your journey.

You'll also be paired with a dedicated buddy from your organization who can help you navigate your new role. Connecting with other members in your cohort will help you build a support network, and joining our Employee Business Resource Groups will help you continue to find community and connection at NetApp.

Kristi, Strategy & Integration

Prior to taking a career break I was the Senior Director of Human Resources at a small IT start-up. My career break was two years and two months when the opportunity to work with someone I have so much respect and admiration for came along. Complete clarity regarding what was important in a new opportunity was critical to returning. A leader(s) I could trust and respect; a company whose culture, values and mission were visible; great people with passion and purpose; an opportunity to do rewarding work that makes a difference. I did a lot of research and asked many questions during the interview process to validate what I thought I understood about the company I was considering joining.

Returning to Talent Acquisition has been a bit like coming home after a long absence, some things may have changed but it’s still the warm inviting place you remember. The best advice I can give someone looking to return to work, is to set realistic expectations for yourself. It took much longer to re-acclimate than I expected and longer still to regain my professional confidence.

Protima, HR & Talent Acquisition

Moving to a new city with marriage led to me taking a career break. And it turned out to be longer than expected with pregnancy. It took me almost five and a half years to try and get back into work!

I returned to work because I wanted to challenge my mind, focus on learning, apply my experience to solutioning and of course, enjoy financial independence. The best thing I can advise to someone looking to come back is to be open to change. If it doesn’t work the first time, don’t let it stop you trying again. The breaks or personal challenges brought by life events can’t be wished away, but what we can do is accept it with grace, embrace it, and enjoy it. Always be open to learning. Every experience brings learning and broadens horizons. Recognize the potential in your networks and don’t be afraid to develop them. Often clarity about the way forward in challenging situations emerges from conversations with people in these networks.

Own your own story, have the conviction of your choices, and enjoy the ride!
