As an engineer in the FlexCache/NFS Protocols organization of NetApp, you will be part of a team of highly talented people who are experts at industry standard NFS protocol and building caching solutions. NetApp is an industry leader in the NAS business and the NFS team of engineers contributes to the success of NetApp in the NAS business area. NFS stack of NetApp and FlexCache solution are trusted in the industry for its reliability, performance, scalability, and availability. Feature rich NFS stack combined with OnTap – The storage operating system of NetApp with its rich data management capabilities have tremendous value to our customers and are used in mission critical applications across the world. FlexCache solutions offers customer a persistent cache of a volume and can be used for improved performance by providing load distribution and reduced latency by locating data closer to the point of client access.
You will work as part of a team responsible for the development, testing and debugging of distributed software that drives NetApp cloud, hybrid-cloud and on-premise solutions. This position requires an individual to be creative, team-oriented, a quick learner and driven to produce results. Feature rich software stack combined with ONTAP – The storage operating system of NetApp with its rich data management capabilities have tremendous value to our customers and are used in mission critical applications across the world. As part of the Research and Development function, the overall focus of the group is on competitive market and customer requirements, supportability, technology advances, product quality, product cost and time-to-market. Software engineers focus on enhancements to existing products as well as new product development. This position requires an individual to be broad-thinking and systems-focused, creative, team-oriented, technologically savvy, able to lead large cross-functional teams, and driven to produce results.

- Provide guidance and mentoring to more junior engineers
- Work collaboratively within a team environment of other engineers to meet aggressive goals and high-quality standards. Possesses sufficient technical knowledge and experience to pick up new expertise quickly with guidance from a technical leader.

Responsibility:
- Responsible for non-routine and unstructured tasks, requiring creative solutions with more inter-dependencies and with processes that are less defined
- The individual works on complex problems with partially defined, larger scope
- May work with teams across the company in problem solving and design efforts
- The individual will begin to develop a technical specialty
Interaction:
- Work effectively with staff to senior manager level employees within the function and the technical team on assigned projects. There may be communication with employees in other functions within Business Units as required
- Work independently with minimal guidance from other Senior members in the team
Education
- A strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures and programming practices
- System/Kernel programming experience
- Knowledge of Filesystems
- Experience with Networking and file/cloud protocols (NFS/CIFS/S3)
- Excellent coding skills in C/C++
- Strong oral and written communication skills are essential
- Strong aptitude for learning new technologies
Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience; or equivalent experience.

The base salary hiring wage range for this position which the Company reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for the position in the specified geographic areas or locations, is $139,500 - 214,500. Final compensation will be dependent on various factors relevant to the position and candidate such as geographical location, candidate qualifications, certifications, relevant job-related work experience, education, skillset and other relevant business and organizational factors, consistent with applicable law. In addition, the position may include some of the following comprehensive benefits such Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, 401(K), Paid Time off (PTO), sick time, leave of absence as per the FMLA and other relevant leave laws, Company bonus/commission, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s).
