Job Summary
As a Manager of Product-centric Project / Delivery Managers at NetApp, you will lead and mentor a global team, ensuring the successful delivery of complex technical projects across the IT Infrastructure Portfolio. You will work closely with the Head of Infrastructure Product Management to establish and apply delivery standards, driving program execution from definition through successful release and transfer to operations. This hands-on role requires extensive project management experience (both waterfall and agile methods) technical proficiency, domain knowledge of the enterprise infrastructure systems portfolio, and a strong focus on customer experience.
In addition to leading project-management efforts, you will play a key role in transforming the organization to a product-centric model, upleveling resources from project managers to product managers. The ideal candidate will have broad experience delivering projects across IT Infrastructure, Operations & Support organizations, including network, data center, and end-user services. They should be skilled in managing cross-functional teams, implementing innovative solutions, and making strategic decisions that align with our company's goals and objectives.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead a global team of high-performing delivery managers, providing technical guidance, coaching, and career development.
- Drive the shift to a product-centric organization, transforming project managers into product managers and aligning with product management principles.
- Establish and apply delivery standards across the IT Infrastructure Portfolio, ensuring alignment with technical requirements and business objectives.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and measure progress against them to ensure project success and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement advanced project management methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of technical project delivery.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential technical risks, and implement mitigation strategies to address challenges proactively.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers, systems engineers, network engineers, data center specialists, and IT architects, to align project goals with technical and business objectives.
- Occasionally manage projects directly, taking a hands-on approach to ensure successful delivery.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and the adoption of new technologies and practices.
- Prepare and present regular reports on project status, performance metrics, and team achievements to senior leadership, with a focus on technical outcomes and improvements.
- Brief executives and communicate effectively across all organizational levels, ensuring clear and concise information flow.
- Skillfully manage project communications to the entire company, advising of changes, creating SharePoint pages, and developing infographics to effectively convey project information.
- Intensely focus on the customer experience, ensuring that project outcomes meet or exceed customer expectations
Job Requirements
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in project management, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role managing project managers in a technical environment.
- Broad experience delivering projects across IT Infrastructure, Operations & Support organizations, including network, data center, and end-user services.
- Strong knowledge of project and program management methodologies, tools, and best practices, with an understanding of the differences between them.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex technical projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to brief executives and communicate across all levels of the organization.
- Skilled in project communications, including advising the company of changes, creating SharePoint pages, and developing infographics.
- Demonstrated cultural competence and experience working with a global team.
- Proficient in project management software and tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, JIRA, Confluence).
- Deep understanding of IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud technologies.
- Technical people management, with experience in leading and developing high-performing technical teams.
- Advanced project & program management, with the ability to handle large-scale, complex technical projects.
- Coaching project managers to be more product-focused and technically proficient.
- Expertise in PM best practices, including risk management and project change management.
Education
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field is required.
- Project management certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) and CSM (Certified ScrumMaster) are required.
Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 145,350 - 216,700 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies. Benefits may vary by country and region, and further details will be provided as part of the recruitment process.
