Job Summary
NetApp is seeking a Principal Technical Marketing Engineer for NetApp’s high-end NAS. Key tasks involve team collaboration, leading go-to-market projects, and ensuring their success. You'll leverage your deep knowledge in data storage infrastructure and NAS to create strategic technical content, refine product requirements based on feedback, and innovate the technical marketing role. Strong communication skills are vital for engaging with diverse groups, including senior leadership, and conveying complex ideas effectively.
Essential Functions:
• As an industry thought leader, you would be expected to influence the Senior Leader and C-executive level, and present at major industry events.
• Collaborate with senior product management leaders, and sponsor cross functional teams, to develop product, solution and reference architecture roadmaps. You will communicate these strategic directions to cross-functional Senior Leaders for adoption.
• Build your expertise of leading-edge technologies and solutions by working closely with all levels of stakeholders in the field, collaborating with other industry experts and evangelizing NetApp’s direction.
• Influence the strategic direction of NetApp marketing and messaging activities. This includes leading the strategic messaging of pre- and post-sales collateral to increase sales and to highlight NetApp’s value proposition.
• Guide engineering to deliver customer relevant, high-quality features through for example, education and use case documentation
• Define and sponsor new projects and be accountable for project execution working with worldwide cross-functional leaders and directing inter-department cross functional teams. This includes researching, proposing, designing and directing Partner integrations highlighting NetApp technologies as well as providing the market and industry value proposition.
• Create and present technical and strategic presentations to major account customers and partners and gather feedback to influence product and solution offerings. Collaborate with and influence the field, partners and customers to enable their strategic direction.
• Invent tools and processes to advance the technical marketing engineer role at NetApp. Your innovations will dramatically improve the efficiency and effectiveness of technical marketing engineers and directly impact the success of NetApp.
Job Requirements
• Deep technical subject matter expertise of scale out NAS, NFSv3, NFSv4.x, SMB, name services, networking, and high-performance NAS use cases and workloads focusing on AI/ML. The candidate should also be familiar with S3, qtrees, quotas, QoS as well as other high-performance NAS workloads such as EDA, Media & Entertainment, Genomics, and Oil & Gas.
• Broad technical, market and strategic knowledge of storage solutions in several subject matter areas. Has an established industry network and is known as a subject matter expert within the industry.
• Experience in communicating in a clear and concise professional manner to the Senior Leader and Executive level, tailored to the appropriate audience, including both verbal and written communications.
• Ability to work on complex industry and market issues where analysis requires a broad perspective and requires collaboration across multiple technical teams including partners. Ability to understand and recognize industry and competitive trends.
• Ability to lead across teams and influence both business and technical strategies at the Senior Leader and Executive level.
• Ability to develop longer-range plans and schedules to complete complex projects and/or roadmaps that support NetApp’s key business objectives.
• Create and foster a collaborative environment. Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the organization and partner organizations on broad technology and marketing areas.
• Ability to travel as required to industry events and customer sites.
Education
• A minimum of 15+ years of data storage infrastructure experience is required.
• A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science or related technical discipline; or equivalent experience is required.
• Demonstrated ability to have successfully completed multiple, complex technical projects.
• Excellent public speaking skills are required.

Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 204,840 - 287,870 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies. Benefits may vary by country and region, and further details will be provided as part of the recruitment process.
