About Team
ONTAP is NetApp’s flagship storage operating system. The ONTAP team drives the product strategy, roadmap, and engineering delivery for ONTAP software and systems. You are responsible for developing innovative solutions and architecture for ONTAP software and systems spanning the areas of filesystems, storage, networking, protocols and security. The solutions you architect and design will drive mission critical applications, AI infrastructure and cloud workflows for Fortune 500 companies. 

What Will You Do
•    Provide the technology strategy to accelerate the pace of innovation within NetApp and the Industry.
•    Define the roadmap and long-term vision, derived from key business priorities, technology and competitive trends as well as new and emerging customer use cases.
•    Partners with Product management and engineering to define and deliver next generation products for NetApp.
•    Influence executive management and engineering to contribute towards a competitive portfolio. Demonstrate influence and act as a force multiplier across engineers at NetApp.
•    Mentor senior and principal engineers and be the technical bar-raiser for senior and principal technical roles.
•    Evangelize both internally and externally for NetApp products you own and become an industry recognized authority on related technologies and domain.


 What You Will Bring
•    Globally recognized as domain expert in software and system design for highly scalable distributed storage systems, control and data plane architectures, core operating systems fundamentals required to fuel large scale AI infrastructure for GenAI and AI as a Service. 
•    Experience building highly resilient and scalable enterprise grade products.
•    Ownership for Product and System architecture for multiple significant projects
•    Expertise in coding, design, architecture, subsystems, and technology trends
•    Expertise in coding, design, architecture, subsystems, and technology trends
•    Excellent communication skills to communicate with executives, senior leadership on products, technology trends and customer issues.
•    Experience in building compliant, secure and compute intensive data services.

Job Requirements

•    15+ years' experience and regarded as a strategic problem solver across a broad set of constituents across your company and/or industry.
•    Experience in building highly available and performant Enterprise grade storage products that can be leveraged for AI infrastructure, model training and inferencing.
•    Extensive technical depth on storage and AI infrastructure. Strong understanding of the AI infra tech trends, industry development and business priorities.
•    Understanding of AI data pipelines, model development, training, inferencing as well as model preservation for tuning and tracing.
•    Experience with distributed storage, filesystems and networking protocols needed to build large scale storage for multi modal LLMs.
•    Ability to get consensus and set technical direction across a large engineering organization.
•    RESTFUL Application Service Architecture, API management services, 3-layered API approach (API gateways, service mesh and load balancers).
•    Deep experience with modern application development methodologies (CI/CD, Agile, DevOps).
•    Experience in building multi-tenanted micro services and deployment, provisioning, and orchestration.

Education

 •    Typically requires 15 years of relevant experience.
•    A Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; or equivalent experience.  Masters preferred.
