Job Summary
NetApp is looking for a technical Product Manager to join the product management team, who has successfully managed Unified storage for block and file workloads in larger enterprise companies with focus on the hardware. He/she has a track record of working in highly effective product management teams and working collaboratively with global R&D.
This is an individual role reporting to the Senior Director of Product Management, he/she will work closely with the company Product leadership teams, Engineering, Sales, Procurement, Marketing and Support teams to define a compelling product strategy working on the foundational segment within NetApp’s portfolio!
The ideal candidate for this role has a background in building and scaling product(s), strong technical hardware and business acumen, and vision to deliver product(s) that transforms the industry and most importantly has an understanding on how to enable software development using his/her extensive hardware background around SAN, NAS and Object and storage technologies for on-premises.
Position Responsibilities & Essential functions
• Help define and execute product vision, direction, and business plans, including product plans/roadmaps, product evolution and product lifecycle process
• This is an engineering and customer-facing role and you’ll be presenting, in person, to small and medium-sized groups.
• Demonstrate the latest advancements in NetApp’s technology and workflows from our research and product teams, customers, and partners.
• Tailor messaging for individuals of varying levels of technical experience and seniority.
• Build relationships and influence across organizations, without direct authority, whilst supporting program management of Executive Briefing Center content.
• Gather, validate, and evaluate product/market requirements through market and customer research, competitive and product research involving customer visits, advisory councils, industry events, analyst relationships, etc
• Collaborate with R&D to translate market requirements into innovative new technology and with support to deliver solutions that have fast time-to-value and accelerate time-to-revenue
• Manage pricing and work with supply chain and procurement and vendor partners to improve margins and/or reduce costs
• Coordinate with engineering and the field to facilitate BETA testing activities with end users/testers
• Translate system functionality into a business relevant language
• Leads and contributes to development of company objectives and principles to achieve goals in creative and effective ways
• Identifies challenges and blockers ahead of time and provide alternate solutions, ability to adapt and navigate to positive outcomes even under significant constraints
• Provide insights into the business through analytics and market research in collaboration with Product Marketing and the Procurement teams
• Applies broad expertise and knowledge in highly specialized fields or several related disciplines
Job Requirements
Minimum requirements:
• 10+ years in product management.
• Experience in hardware product management
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, Masters desired
• Strong understanding of how data flows across motherboard components and the underlying critical technologies such as error detection and correction, PCIe architecture, and evaluation of ASICs under consideration for new hardware
• Practical experience with thermal and power challenges in hardware and how to mitigate them using technologies such as hardware power states, liquid cooling, etc
• Experience in storage, networking and server technology related experience for data centers, on-premises and understanding of storage technologies such as PCIe, FCP, iSCSI, NVMe, SMB, NFSv3/NFSv4, S3, SATA, SAS, Flash, NVMe, RAID and erasure coding topology
• Knowledge with backup and disaster recovery architectures for SAN and NAS environments
• Strong oral presentation skills and experience providing enterprise thought leadership at the NetApp Executive Briefing Center
• Willingness to roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary
• Provide answers for technical questions from customers, partners and internal employees
• Strong analytical and logical, problem-solving and organizational skills
• Ability to build and/or use tools for BOM, Sizing, Pricing, etc purposes
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
• Excellent listening, oral, and written communication/presentation skills with strong ability to influence people at all levels and in various functions.
Preferred requirements:
• Experience with Tableau, PowerBI, SalesForce
• Experience in JIRA
• Hands on experience on provisioning of storage devices for out of box experience
• Deep knowledge around CPUs, GPUs and DPUs and PCIe, NVMe and SSDs
• Ability to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems with extreme attention to detail
• MBA

15% to 25% of travel will be required
