NetApp Instaclustr is searching for a Developer Advocate to join our DevRel team. As a Developer Advocate, you’ll work closely with your team in Developer Relations, Open Source Contributions, Product Marketing, Product Management, and Engineering to raise awareness of the NetApp Instaclustr platform and the software we manage on it and help create amazing developer experiences that further excite and aid customers and developers.
Our Developer Advocates are technical experts in their respective technologies and create content that is easy for customers and the community to consume and use to further their own objectives. To be effective in this role, you must have a passion for creating technical content that educates, inspires, and empowers developers. You should excel at translating complex concepts into clear, accessible tutorials, blog posts, videos, code samples, and conference presentations. Your content should not only demonstrate best practices but also spark creativity and innovation within the developer community. The ideal candidate will have a knack for identifying pain points in the developer experience and creating content that addresses these challenges, ultimately driving adoption and fostering a vibrant ecosystem around our technologies. You should be an active participant in community channels including LinkedIn, Open Source Discord channels, and X (Twitter).
Job Requirements
- Content Creation: Create and develop high-quality technical content. Write blog posts, present at conferences and meetups, and publish video content on our YouTube channel
- Acquisition: Create demos & workshops that easily allow prospective developers a quick-start experience of utilizing our platform.
- Developer Experience: Create code samples, guides, and workshops to improve the skills of developers on our platform.
- Community Engagement: Engage with developers on social media and forums, Open Source communities such as Apache Software Foundation and Linux Foundation, providing support, and gathering feedback.
- Build Credibility: Establish yourself as a trusted technical peer and community advocate
- Collaborate: Partner with cross functional teams including: Product Management, Product Marketing, Engineering, and field teams to deliver an outstanding developer experience.
- Exert Ingenuity: Lead and contribute to development of company objectives to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.
- Identify new channels to reach and engage with developers.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of ClickHouse, with hands-on experience using it in professional or personal projects
- Strong understanding and experience with Apache Kafka, Cassandra, OpenSearch, Valkey, Postgres, or Cadence is a plus
- 2+ years of professional experience in software development, data engineering, developer advocacy, or technical marketing
- Experience creating engaging technical content for YouTube or similar platforms, including comfort with video presentation and basic video editing
- Basic experience with AWS (other hyperscalers are a plus)
- Familiarity with version control using GitHub
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with ability to explain technical concepts to different audiences
- Experience or strong interest in technical writing, blogging, or creating educational content
- Ability to work independently while seeking guidance on complex issues
- Willingness to travel up to 20% annually
- Based in the US
Education
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree with 2+ years related experience; A Master's degree with 0+ years related experience; or equivalent experience.
Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 99,875 - 148,610 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies. Benefits may vary by country and region, and further details will be provided as part of the recruitment process.
