Our co-op program has three key goals: understand the NetApp business, experience enterprise software engineering, and engage and socialize with the community of co-ops and employees at various social events.
NetApp's Vancouver Technology Center is pioneering the development of AWS and cloud compatible object storage software to handle the exponential growth in big data. You will be integrated into our core StorageGRID engineering teams to work alongside engineers with years of experience. Here you will learn about the industry-leading data storage technologies, employ the latest tools, and apply engineering best practices. Agile Scrum, continuous integration, automated testing, OO development, and mission-critical software development are just a few of the things you will be exposed to as you work on solving the world’s need for data.

NetApp VTC offers 2 co-op roles: Software Developer and Software Development Engineer in Test. Both roles will exercise and hone your software development skills. Successful co-ops in either role will ship a customer-facing feature they helped develop or test within the StorageGRID product.
About this position: The Software Development Engineer in Test Co-op role focuses on automated testing of features and the overall product. If the idea of “I wonder what happens if I do this…” appeals to you, we want you on our team! In this position you are the proxy for customers including Fortune 100 companies who expect perfection. Your efforts will ensure the product works, not only as intended, but also consistently satisfy user expectations.
Job Requirements
Essential functions may include:
- Software design and implementation
- Defect investigation and resolution
- Test automation and framework development
- Advanced technology investigations and prototyping
Skills we are looking for:
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C/C++, Go, Ruby, Javascript, or Java
- Experience with UI test methods, Linux, HTTP/REST, and SQL/NoSQL databases
- Successful completion of one or more operating system courses or related projects
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team of engineers to meet aggressive goals
- Familiarity of basic concepts of computer architecture, data structures, and programming practices
Education
Must be enrolled in an educational or professional program through summer 2026 or later.
Compensation:
Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package.
