Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Network Engineer to join our dynamic team in San Jose. This role is crucial in managing and evolving our network infrastructure, bridging the gap between traditional networking and modern cloud-centric approaches. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in core networking principles and a passion for expanding their expertise into areas like multi-cloud networking, automation, and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA). You will play a key role in ensuring the performance, security, and scalability of our network as we transition to future-oriented technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Network Engineering & Ownership: 

  • Take ownership of network projects from inception to completion, demonstrating full accountability for outcomes and timelines.
  • Act as a thought leader in identifying and championing innovative network solutions and strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve network efficiency, security, and scalability through new technologies and approaches, driving these initiatives forward with minimal supervision.
  • Present network strategies, project updates, and recommendations to senior leadership, effectively communicating complex technical information to a non-technical audience

Network Infrastructure Management (Current & Future):

  • Manage and maintain the existing network infrastructure, including WAN, LAN/NAC, Datacenter Networking, and Wireless networks.
  • Design, deploy, and manage multi-cloud networking solutions across various cloud platforms.
  • Implement and manage Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) and Secure Service Edge (SSE) solutions to enhance network security in a cloud-first environment.
  • Administer and troubleshoot both legacy VPN and Firewalling systems, as well as next-generation firewall technologies.
  • Ensure the security and compliance of the network infrastructure in line with industry best practices.

Automation and Orchestration (Future Focus):

  • Develop and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IAC) for network provisioning and management using automation tools.
  • Proven experience leading a team on an Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) journey for network automation. Your leadership in driving network automation initiatives using IaC principles would be highly advantageous, especially as we mature our automation practices.
  • Experience in integrating and developing CI/CD pipelines specifically for network configuration and automation. Familiarity with CI/CD tools and methodologies applied to network infrastructure will be incredibly valuable in streamlining our network changes and deployments.
  • Utilize scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) to automate network tasks and workflows.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of network automation platforms (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).

Collaboration and Problem Solving:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including security, cloud, and application teams, to ensure seamless network integration and performance.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues across both traditional and cloud environments.
  • Participate in network planning, design, and implementation projects.
  • Document network configurations, processes, and procedures.

Continuous Learning:

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in networking, cloud computing, and security, particularly in areas like multi-cloud, ZTNA/SSE, and network automation.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve network efficiency and security through new technologies and approaches.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience in network engineering, with a focus on enterprise-level network infrastructure.
  • Strong foundation in core WAN/BGP routing protocols is essential. We value candidates who possess a deep understanding of wide area networking and border gateway protocol.
  • Extensive experience in managing and troubleshooting enterprise-grade Wireless networks is crucial. We are looking for someone who can ensure robust and reliable wireless connectivity across our organization.
  • Experience managing and troubleshooting WAN, LAN/NAC, Datacenter Networking environments.
  • Experience with network security technologies, including VPNs and Firewalls (both legacy and next-generation).
  • Demonstrated interest and aptitude for learning new technologies, particularly in cloud networking and security.
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform) for network automation is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive approach to learning and adapting to emerging networking and security trends.

Bonus Points - We'd be especially excited if you have:

  • Strong practical experience with BGP and Cisco SD-WAN solutions. Your proven ability to deploy, manage, and optimize Cisco SD-WAN environments will be highly valued.
  • Significant hands-on experience with Zscaler ZTNA (Zero Trust Network Access) solutions. Expertise in implementing and managing Zscaler, or similar ZTNA platforms.
  • Industry certifications such as CWNA or CWSP demonstrating deep expertise in Wireless Networking.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent cloud networking certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Advanced Networking Specialty, Azure Network Engineer Associate,
  • Google Cloud or AWS Professional Cloud Network Engineer.
  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.
  • Experience with cloud security compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2, PCI DSS).
  • Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) in a networking context.

Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is 122,655 - 182,490 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package. This may cover Health Insurance, Life Insurance, Retirement or Pension Plans, Paid Time Off (PTO), various Leave options, Performance-Based Incentives, employee stock purchase plan, and/or restricted stocks (RSU’s), with all offerings subject to regional variations and governed by local laws, regulations, and company policies. Benefits may vary by country and region, and further details will be provided as part of the recruitment process.
